Khaleeji Bank Redesigns Mobile App With Family Savings Tool and Limited Deposit Offer

Khaleeji Bank, an Islamic lender based in Manama, has rolled out an updated version of its mobile banking app with a redesigned interface and a broader set of financial management tools. Alongside the launch, the bank is offering a limited-time investment deposit with an expected profit rate of up to 6.25%, exempt from Zakat on the principal, available only through the app.

A family-oriented savings feature

One of the app's notable additions is "Ajyal - Khaleeji Family," which the bank describes as a first-of-its-kind offering in Bahrain. The tool lets parents set savings goals, assign tasks and challenges, offer rewards, and manage their children's accounts and cards from within the same app. The stated aim is to help younger users build habits around saving and money management under parental supervision, rather than handling finances entirely separately from the household account.

Consolidated account view and spending insights

The updated app allows customers to view balances from their Khaleeji Bank accounts together with accounts held at other banks in Bahrain, giving a single consolidated view of personal finances. It also generates personalized insights on spending patterns and financial behavior, intended to help users understand where their money goes each month. Transaction records now include added detail such as merchant names and locations, and customers can set and track progress toward savings or financial goals directly in the app.

Digital financing, payments and everyday tools

Customers can apply for financing entirely through the app, without needing to visit a branch, and the update retains standard services such as local and international transfers, Fawri and Fawri+ payments, Fawateer bill payments, card management, and support for Apple Pay and Google Pay. The app also includes a prayer times feature and a Zakat calculator, alongside the ability to send money with accompanying digital gift cards and to discover nearby bank offers and discounts.

Terms on the deposit offer

The 6.25% expected profit rate applies to a Zakat-exempt fixed investment deposit subscribed to through the mobile app for a limited period, and is subject to the bank's applicable terms and conditions. As with any expected-return product, the rate is indicative rather than guaranteed, and customers should review the specific conditions, minimum amounts, and tenor before subscribing. Ameera Ahmed Al Abbasi, Head of Retail Banking at Khaleeji Bank, said the redesign was built around giving clients clearer visibility and control over their accounts, savings, and goals in one place.
